I have become more and more interested (ahem, obsessed) with craftiness, DIY projects, and organization of my home. I love to read other blogs, Pin, and look up other DIY projects so I thought it was high time to introduce my blog on the World Wide Web. I will start by recapping my pre-blog projects and then continue with current ones. Let me know if you have ideas or questions. I'd be happy to answer them!
My newest DIY project is for my baby girl's first first birthday. She is my sunshine and that is the theme of her party. You can follow my birthday pinning here
I have been trying to find a sunshine themed outfit and I don't have time to make my own in the midst of a big home move! So, my Mom found this adorable yellow dress and I decided to make a headpiece for her.
I was inspired by many other bloggers and websites to make my own fabric flowers. You can follow my pinning progress here. My mom is a quilter extraordinaire and has a whole library of fabrics to inspire even the most dry crafter. This library has inspired me on more than one occasion to design fun and fabulous things. Since I have a toddler and an infant underfoot I have limited time to work on, and more to the point, finish projects. On this particular occasion I decided to piece together some fabric flowers that I had been pinning. My mom didn't have a glue gun (who doesn't have a glue gun?!) so I hand sewed these petals on.
I wanted my flower to be for my baby girl's first birthday with a sunshine theme so I selected all yellow prints of cotton. I used a cup to cut out a circle out of 6 different fabrics and one piece of felt. Actually, I used a scrap piece of quilt batting instead of felt because my mom didn't have any. You can find the tutorial that I used here.
After making the fabric flower I felt like it wasn't really special yet. So I added some feathers and lace and then attached an alligator clip to it. Then I pinned it onto an elastic headband I bought at Walmart for $1.93 CAD.
This beautiful headband will make a unique treat for my baby's sunshine themed first birthday party!
